Our lead teacher, Mona Filippone, shares her many years of tender loving experience with children and parents by teaching signs and gestures that help create communication gateways, even before words can develop in the young. She opens paths to deeper understanding between parent and child as well as child care workers who are caring for your child.

Mona Filipponne, Teacher/Director of ABC Hands

The basis of Mona's spirit to teach children comes from her own personal experiences. She was raised in a bicultural and bilingual household in central Texas. Despite being born hard of hearing Mona herself became fluent in speaking and signing. She has a deep passion to teach babies sign language knowing that everyone should have access to clear communication at an early age. From results seen with her own child and others, she continues to emphasize how signing can positively influence personal, intellectual and emotional growth in a child’s tender development. For more than six years Mona volunteered her time at various daycares during play time, song time, and telling stories in ASL (American Sign Language).  This experience inspired her to leave her day job and pursue the dream of ABC Hands.
